What Is An
Usher?
An official whose business is to introduce strangers, or to walk
before persons or rank, an underteacher or assistant in a
school. To introduce, to forerun, a doorkeeper.
An church usher then is an officer of the church he or she
serves. Church ushers are doorkeepers in the house of God and
guard at all times during the service.
From whence came ushering? Since an usher is a forerunner, the
great God of the universe was the first usher, for he ushered
light into the world and called it day. |
